Notes from the Pastor...
With terrorist attacks around the world, and continuing violence in our own streets, we are certainly living in challenging times. The issues are myriad and complex, and there are no easy answers. The only answer for the Christian is love, mercy and prayer.
Each weekend at every Mass in our Universal Prayer (Prayers of the Faithful), we pray: “For persecuted Christians throughout the world, those who suffer from addictions, the unemployed and the homeless; and all victims of prejudice, violence and injustice.”
Please make this a part of your daily personal prayer. As the Year of Mercy continues, let us all join Pope Francis in praying for mercy. I quote his Prayer for the Jubilee of Mercy: “Send your Spirit and consecrate every one of us with its anointing, so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord, and your Church, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed, and restore sight to the blind.”
And finally, to quote the Chaplet of Divine Mercy: “For the sake of his sorrowful passion, have mercy on us, and on the whole world.”
